This article, part 4 of 4, takes a comprehensive look at the benefits of dental implants as a tooth replacement solution over traditional removable dentures.
This article series has been dedicated to providing edentulous (not having a single original adult tooth left) and near-edentulous patients with a much better understanding of their tooth replacement options. Removable dentures were once the most common way of replacing a mouth of missing teeth, but with dental implant protocol and technology becoming more and more sophisticated, Colorado dentists are urging patients to reconsider following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents. Removable dentures simply don’t rival dental implants in the quality of life they offer patients requiring a new set of teeth, say Colorado dentists. Dental implants offer a comprehensive and long-term solution to rampant tooth loss and edentulism; one that is superior when measured in bite functionality, oral comfort, smile aesthetics and even costs.
In this article, the final of a four-part series, we shall provide a brief summary of all the points already covered by these Colorado dentists as well as a few others that have not yet been discussed.
Colorado Dentists Say: Removable Dentures versus Dental Implants
According to Colorado dentists, when patients look for a tooth replacement solution, they ideally want something that is as close to their natural teeth as possible; something that functions, feels and looks like the original adult teeth they have lost over the years. To put it simply, no other tooth replacement technology offers a solution as comparable to natural teeth as dental implants, say Colorado dentists. Dental implants consist of tiny titanium fixtures or screws that are inserted into the jaw bone at the site/s of the missing tooth or teeth. A ceramic tooth crown or customized prosthetic dental bridge is then attached by Colorado dentists and permanently supported by this fixture, providing patients with a non-removable set of teeth. Because dental implants replace the entire tooth, from the root to the crown, they afford patients a great number and diversity of advantages over removable dentures. And to recap (with further additions), here they are:
But perhaps best of all, dental implants allow patients to smile with complete confidence; confidence in the knowledge that even though they have lost all of their original adult teeth, they can still eat all the foods they love, speak without self-consciousness and lead a life of much improved quality. All thanks to dental implants and the skilled Colorado dentists that place them!

This article, part 3 of 4, takes a comprehensive look at the benefits of dental implants as a tooth replacement solution over traditional removable dentures.
In our previous two article posts on dental implants and removable dentures in Pueblo, we discussed how the former offers a more functional and comfortable tooth replacement solution to patients suffering from rampant tooth loss and edentulism (not having a single original adult tooth left). In this, the third installment of a four-part series, we shall examine how dental implants allow for far more natural and long-lasting smile aesthetics than removable dentures in Pueblo. Since our smile plays a fundamental role in all of our social interactions and communications, enabling patients to smile comfortably and with confidence is one of the most important benefits offered by dental implants.
Dental Implants versus Dentures in Pueblo: Smile Aesthetics
As it was discussed in the first article in this series, removable dentures in Pueblo rely upon the underlying gums and jaw bone ridge for support. They are also fabricated with ‘flanges’, regions of additional peripheral mass, which are meant to provide further stability or support to the dentures in the mouth. Unfortunately though, bulky removable dentures in Pueblo push on the lips from the inside, giving them a thin and stretched appearance. This alone can add year’s onto a patient’s appearance. But this is far from the worst of it….
Dentures in Pueblo do nothing to prevent jaw bone atrophy and the subsequent deterioration of bone volume in the jaw. You see, bone tissue, just like any muscle in the body, requires stimulation and ‘exercise’ in order to remain healthy and alive. The roots of the teeth are responsible for providing this essential source of stimulation, so when they are lost and left without a replacement, the underlying jaw bone tissue begins to atrophy and waste away. Dental implants replace the entire missing tooth, from the root to the crown, which restores this stimulation, promoting excellent jaw bone health. But dentures in Pueblo do not and as such, the jaw bone slowly but steadily wastes away resulting in that aged and sunken appearance we typically associate with the elderly.
It is for this reason that dentures in Pueblo require refitting every few years or so. Not because they themselves are getting worn down, but because the jaw bone itself is changing in shape! The loss of bone volume in the jaw has a devastating effect upon a patient’s natural youthful facial contours. Ironically enough, jaw bone atrophy can become so advanced that removable dentures in Pueblo are simply no longer able to be fitted, necessitating the placement of dental implants anyway! It’s that, or patients will just have to live without any teeth replacement technology.
Remember, dental implants promote a healthy jaw bone and because they function just like natural teeth (being supported directly by the jaw), they can be used to support a dental bridge that doesn’t need additional bulk or mass.

This article, part 2 of 4, takes a comprehensive look at the benefits of dental implants as a tooth replacement solution over traditional removable dentures.
In our previous article post, this Pueblo dentist began discussing how dental implants offer a superior tooth replacement solution to traditional removable dentures; an archaic dental technology. The first point covered was bite functionality, with dental implants making it possible for patients to bite down with a far stronger force, thus enabling them to eat all the foods they love and need to remain strong and healthy. It was also mentioned that dental implants allow for a much more comfortable and natural-feeling bite. In this article, the second instalment of a four-part series, the Pueblo dentist will move on to discuss the benefits afforded by dental implants as far as oral comfort and costs are concerned.
Dental Implants Versus Removable Dentures: Oral Comfort
One of the biggest problems with removable dentures, says the Pueblo dentist, is that they rely upon the gums and the underlying jaw bone ridge for support and stability. This means that every time you bite down, the associated forces that would traditionally be transmitted to the jaw bone are instead transmitted to the gums. Now, as you may imagine, this soft tissue was not ever meant to withstand the forces associated with chewing and as a result – especially if the removable dentures are loose-fitting – eating can become acutely uncomfortable, says the Pueblo dentist. The gums can become chronically inflamed and sore making eating an exercise in pain tolerance rather than pleasure! Dental implants, on the other hand, rely directly upon the jaw bone for support, just like your natural teeth once used to. So, eating feels completely natural and the gums are left healthy and without constant irritation.
Another factor to consider when discussing oral comfort, says the Pueblo dentist, is self-confidence. Eating and speaking with removable dentures can cause acute social embarrassment, especially if they are loose-fitting and move around a lot. Having to take them out to clean them is yet another reason patients feel uncomfortable about having a removable tooth replacement solution. Because dental implants function, feel and look just like natural teeth, patients feel far more comfortable and self-confident, in both a professional and social environment, says the Pueblo dentist. This makes dental implants a far more sophisticated teeth replacement solution as far as oral comfort is concerned!
Dental Implants Versus Removable Dentures: Costs
The fact that dental implants can work out to be less expensive than removable dentures can be surprising to many, says the Pueblo dentist. After all, the primary reason people opt for false teeth in the first place is because they think it offers a cheaper tooth replacement solution. But if you consider the repeated expenses involved in wearing removable dentures, as well as the toll they take on one’s quality of life, dental implants indeed work out to be a smarter and far more beneficial investment. Dentures, says the Pueblo dentist, incur the costs of the following repeated expenses:
Dental implants offer a comprehensive and long term tooth replacement solution; one that can last as many as 20, 30 and more years; very seldom with the need for restorative work. In other words, says the Pueblo dentist, they offer patients a one-time solution requiring a one-time investment.

This article, part 1 of 4, takes a comprehensive look at the benefits of dental implants as a tooth replacement solution over traditional removable dentures.
Pueblo Dental Implants: An Introduction to Tooth Loss
It is quite morbidly said that there are two things that are inevitable in life: death and taxes. Whoever came up with this adage forgot to mention another of life’s inevitabilities: tooth loss. As we get older, our mouths become more and more vulnerable to the array of conditions and diseases that cause tooth loss. Since no one could possibly keep their mouth completely free of bacteria, oral infection and decay (both isolated and pervasive) are things that we all struggle with at some stage during our life. The traditional solution to tooth loss is removable dentures; a rigid plastic structure of artificial teeth that are fabricated to fit over the gums and palate. However, what only those who have had to struggle with removable dentures could know is that this archaic technology comes hand-in-hand with a great number of challenges and associated repeat expenses.
Pueblo Dental Implants: A Modern Day Tooth Replacement Solution
Pueblo dental implants are the 21st Century solution to tooth loss and edentulism; not having any of your original adult teeth left. Although they require a greater initial investment by the patient, in the long run, they take out far less of a toll on one’s quality of life and bank account. In order to really understand how Pueblo dental implants offer a superior tooth replacement solution to removable dentures, we will, in this four-part article series, be exploring the benefits and advantages offered by this modern miracle of technology! Armed with this higher understanding, you can then go on to make an informed decision that is most beneficial to your oral health and unique needs.
Pueblo Dental Implants versus Removable Dentures: Bite Functionality
Let’s begin with a look at the most important function of our teeth; chewing, biting and grinding food. Did you know that tooth loss is intimately linked with a lack of nutrition simply because people are not able to eat all the foods they need to remain healthy and strong? This is especially a problem amongst the elderly. While removable dentures should enable a patient to eat properly, over time and with bone loss in the jaw (something that will be explored later on in this article series), they cease to fit properly. As such, they begin to slip and shift around in the mouth, making it increasingly difficult for patients to eat properly and to manage certain foods. Acute oral discomfort – caused by the transmission of bite forces to the underlying soft tissue - also makes it hard for patients to eat all the foods they love, simply because it hurts too much!
Pueblo dental implants, on the other hand, feel and function just like natural teeth because they are inserted directly into the jaw where they actually form a strong biological bond with the bone tissue. This may sound painful, but in reality, once healing has occurred, Pueblo dental implants feel as natural and comfortable as any of your other adult teeth. This enables patients to bite down with a stronger force and as such, to eat all kinds of different foods, from a succulent steak to healthy crunchy vegetables.
